Remove dents from the car yourself: ingenious tricks

Repairing dents in the car quickly becomes an expensive affair. You can also remove the dents yourself with a few tricks. We’ll show you how to dent your car for little money.

Dents in the metal

All metallic components on the car have a fairly stable shape. If the fender, bonnet, door or tailgate are damaged, the dents cannot simply be pushed out with your finger.

Many dents can be removed with a hot air blower and a compressed air spray. You can get a compressed air spray from around 5 euros on Amazon or in the nearest hardware store. A hot air blower costs you another 15 euros. However, the heat generated by a hair dryer is sufficient in some cases.

Hold the hair dryer or hot air blower a few centimeters away from the dent. Heat the dent for several seconds. Now work the area with the compressed air spray. Spray on and around the dent at a distance of a few centimeters.

After several seconds, the dent should bulge on its own. If that doesn’t work, reheat the sheet and try again. Of course, not every dent in the car can be removed in this way. The effectiveness of this method should not be underestimated.

A suction cup can also be helpful for medium-sized and even dents. You can also get a small suction cup online for a few euros or at a hardware store. The suction cup of the navigation system holder can also be used for other purposes.

Remove dent in plastic

If your car has a dent in a plastic part, the above tricks will not help. You can get rid of such dents with a much simpler means. All you need is hot water.

Boil water in a saucepan or kettle and carefully pour it over the plastic. Depending on the size of the dent, you need around one liter. If you pour the water slowly over the plastic, it will become soft.

Unlike the above trick, the plastic does not bend back in many cases. Either remove the plastic part or try to push the warmed dent out from the inside.
