Skoda Superb iV: a convincing plug-in hybrid

Following the turn taken by the Volkswagen group in terms of electrification, Skoda now offers its first plug-in hybrid car. It is the Skoda Superb iV, the brand’s flagship, that has the honor of inaugurating this type of engine.

The Skoda Superb opens a new page in the history of the Czech brand. For the first time, plug-in hybrid technology appears in the catalog. Just like the Skoda Citigo-e iV, which is based on the platform offered by the Volkswagen E-Up!

Based on the MQB platform, like the Volkswagen Passat, the Skoda Superb iV skillfully combines the renowned German mechanical technology to the lithium-ion cell: the 1.4 liter TSI is accompanied by an electric motor and a 13 kWh battery. The total available power climbs to 218 hp for 400 Nm, sent to the front wheels via the DSG 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The vehicle consumes 1.5 liter of fuel per 100 km as per WLTP rating.

The qualities of the sedan are all the more remarkable, with suspension comfort and appreciable silence in operation. This leaves plenty of time to take advantage of the rich equipment provided in the Laurin & Klement version, with tri-zone air conditioning, leather upholstery, quality audio equipment and sports mode.

The Skoda Superb iV opens its catalog from 44,000 euros in Style finish (40,600 euros in Business version for companies), or 6,200 euros less than its counterpart at Volkswagen. If you choose Laurin & Klement with all the optional features the price can go up to 51,000 euros.
