Mazda North America sales decline by 44.5% in April 2020

Mazda North America announced sales results for April 2020. The number of vehicles sold in April was 10,940.

In the same month of 2019, 19,702 units were sold. In April of this year, which was affected by the coronavirus pandemic, it recorded a decrease of 44.5% year-on-year. There were 26 business days in North America in April 2020, one more day than the 25 days in the same month last year.


In addition, the number of vehicles sold from the beginning of 2020 to the end of April was 78,610 units, a decrease of 13.2% compared to the same period last year. Looking at the results by model, the following results were obtained in April 2020, which were all significantly reduced.

Mazda 3: 1492 units (-65.7%)
Mazda 6: 746 units (-68.1%)
MX-5 Miata: 552 units (-29.4%)
CX-3: 363 units (-64.4%)
CX-30: 1483 units (not released in the previous year)
CX-5: 5220 units (-45.6%)
CX-9: 1084 units (-33.0%)

CX series plays a major role in the sales of Mazda North America, and in April, it recorded 8150 units of four SUV model cars. It accounts for about three-quarters of sales in the same month.

Mazda North America manages sales, marketing and customer service in the United States and Mexico, with approximately 620 dealership stores.
