Kia Motors sales decline by 6.4 percent in March 2020

Kia Motors Corporation has just announced its global sales figures for March 2020. The brand thus recorded a total of 226,960 vehicles sold, a decrease of 6.4% compared to March 2019.

2020 Kia Sportage

The brand’s sales champion worldwide is the Kia Sportage with 28,977 units sold, followed by the Kia Seltos with 27,806 units sold and the Kia K3 (Forte) sedan with 21,194 units.

Sales in South Korea

Compared with March 2019, sales in Korea increased by 15.3% to 51,008 units (compared to 44,233 units). It is the first time in 23 months (since April 2018) that Kia has sold more than 50,000 units in one month on the Korean market. Recently launched models, such as the all-new Kia K5 (Optima) sedan introduced to the market last December and the all-new Sorento SUV released last month, have contributed to the increase in sales.

Foreign sales

Sales on foreign markets fell 11.2% to 175,952 units, compared to 198,137 vehicles last year, the COVID-19 epidemic having impacted demand on world markets. The manufacturer has also temporarily closed some of its factories abroad to fight the pandemic.

In the face of this global health crisis, Kia is monitoring the situation in real time and has taken specific actions to ensure that all possible measures are put in place to reduce the spread of the virus.
