In autumn and winter, the low sun often blinds drivers. If the windshield is not really clean and the wiper blades are also streaked, visibility can quickly become poor. In the worst case scenario, broken wipers can even scratch the windshield. Therefore, if in doubt, you should change the windscreen wipers more frequently. At the latest during the main inspection, the inspectors even refuse to issue the desired badge if the windshield wipers no longer function properly. The timely wiper replacement is therefore obligatory.

  1. Pull the wiper blade and arm away from the glass.

Note: Do not hold the wiper blade to lift the wiper arm.
  2. Lift the wiper blade primary locking clip.
  3. Press the wiper blade secondary locking clip.
  4. Remove the wiper blade.
Note: Make sure that the wiper arm does not spring back against the glass when the wiper blade is not attached.
  5. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
Note: Make sure that the wiper blade locks into place.

Precautions

  • Proceed with great care when changing the windscreen wipers on your F-150: a wiper arm that hits the windshield without the blade can quickly crack the glass.
  • Always protect the pane with a cloth or towel when changing it.
  • Remove the old wiper and place it in the same position next to the wiper arm – this makes assembly easier.
  • The new wiper blade must audibly click into place, otherwise it will fly away while driving.

  • Always clean the windscreen, especially in autumn and winter.
  • If the wipers smear, clean the windshield with glass cleaner.
  • Use windscreen cleaner concentrate only in the concentration specified by the manufacturer. Undiluted use is usually counterproductive.
  • But: never use them to clean the wiper blades, because they are often covered with a thin coating that allows the blades to slide better.
  • Heavily soiled wiper blades can be easily wiped off with a damp cloth.
  • After washing the car with the wax program, the windscreen and wipers must be cleaned of wax residue with a special cleaning cloth. This is the only way for the windshield wiper to work streak-free afterwards .
  • Check from time to time whether the wiper arm is bent and whether the wiper is completely in contact with the windshield.
