If your Subaru Forester won't start and there are no lights when you turn the key or push the start/stop button, it's likely that the battery is completely dead. Here are some steps you can take to diagnose and potentially fix the issue:

  1. Check the battery connections: Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tightly connected. If they are loose or corroded, it could be preventing the battery from charging properly.
  2. In addition to checking the battery connections, it's also important to check the ground connections. The ground connection provides the return path for the electrical current and is essential for proper operation of the vehicle's electrical system.  Make sure that the ground cable is securely attached to the battery and the car's chassis, and that it is free of corrosion or damage. If the ground cable is loose or corroded, it can cause a range of electrical issues, including a dead battery.
  3. Jump-start the battery: If the battery is completely dead, you can try jump-starting it using jumper cables and another vehicle.
  4. Test the battery: If you have a voltmeter, you can use it to test the battery voltage. A fully charged battery should have around 12.6 volts. If the voltage is significantly lower than that, it may be time to replace the battery.
  5. Replace the battery: If your battery is old or has been giving you trouble, it may be time to replace it. You can take your car to a mechanic or auto parts store to have the battery tested and replaced if necessary.
