I am new here and hope to get a correct answer from you. Since I already had a discussion with the workshop foreman today

Have been driving a 5E Combi Bj. 2015 1.6 TDI Green Tec DSG with the Q16 variable service interval for 9 months now. Today I was in a workshop around the corner and had my oil service done because it would have been due in 20 days. The inspection wasn't due yet, so I didn't have it done together.

Then I got my car back today and drove off and look at the service indicator on the display. And now there is inspection in 30,000 km or 365 days and oil service in 22,000 km or 550. Good oil service is understandable to me because it calculates this based on my driving style etc.

But why does the inspection seem to have been reset now?

There should be something with 10,500 km or 110 days approx. (I saw it a few days ago).

I then turned around and went back to the workshop and asked how that came because I think it wasn't so right. I do not want to explain the discussion for long, the mechanic was of the opinion that he can not reset it separately. Although only oil service has been done, he can only put it back together with the inspection! But it doesn't make sense to me, I'm not a specialist and I don't have much of a clue about it. But that must be possible that only the oil service can be reset and the inspection keeps its "old" interval.

Thanks in advance.

Very briefly - you are right and the workshop did not act correctly. Both displays have to be reset separately.
