I connected my battery terminals the wrong way around, have I wrecked the alternator?

Now, when I start the engine, the battery warning light stays on. Can it be reset?

Test the alternator. If the alternator is not charging the battery properly, it could be damaged from the reverse polarity connection. You're lucky it didn't cause any expensive damage, like a fried ECU.

If the alternator is fine, you can reset the light by clearing the fault codes with an OBDII scanner, or disconnect the battery for 15 minutes.
