The windscreen washer is not working? In this article we explain what you can do to get a clear view in your car again.

Check windshield washer fluid
First, you should check whether there is enough windshield washer fluid in the reservoir of your vehicle. Fill the container with a suitable mixture of detergent and water that is as soft as possible. Collected and filtered rainwater is optimal because it contains few mineral components compared to normal tap water.
Check the windscreen washer hoses
Next, you should check the hose connections to the wiper nozzles. If these are cracked, loose or leaking, we recommend that you use new hoses from the hardware store or specialist retailer.
Windscreen washer nozzles clogged
If no solution to the problem has been found so far: Now check whether the nozzles are stuck or clogged. Pick up a sturdy needle and use it to remove dirt from the nozzles.
Check fuses
Another error possibility can be found in the electrical fuse of the windscreen washer system. In the operating instructions for your vehicle you will find a description of the correct fuse and the corresponding position in the fuse box. Replace the fuse with a new one.
Washer pump defective
If all previous measures have not led to the goal, then there is probably a defect in the washer fluid pump or in the cable harness. To do this, ask a car workshop to check and rectify the error. Before you are sold an expensive new part, it is worth taking a look at the online parts exchange. You can often find cheap replacements here, especially for older vehicles.
