How to enable Parking Aid Lines and Obstacle Markings on BMW 3-Series

Park Distance Control or PDC supports you during parking and maneuvering on your BMW.

PDC uses ultrasonic sensors in the front and rear bumpers to monitor your surroundings and then alerts you to any obstacles it detects in your path.

To activate PDC, press the parking assistant button on center console or choose the reverse gear. The LED light will illuminate and the parking view will be displayed on infotainment system display.

Enabling Parking Aid Lines

To enable parking aid lines, on the camera view, expand the left sidebar and check the box next to Parking aid lines.

If the sidebar is on the right side then select Camera picture, then check the box next to Parking guide lines.

Mark Obstacles

You can also add visual support for detected objects. On the sidebar, check the box next to Obstacle marking.

If the sidebar is on the right side of the screen, then select Camera picture and then check the box on Obstacle mark.

When enabled, if the system detects an obstacle within the parking distance, acoustic warning tones will sound and the approach will be shown schematically on the iDrive screen. The warning tones and display changes continually with the distance between the vehicle and the object.
