Hello everybody. Has anyone ever changed the evaporator on their S-Type (pre facelift 2001)? Air conditioning condenser is tight, compressor is running, system is filled. Still, it doesn't get really cool. The only thing missing is the evaporator. But the way I see it is under the dashboard and it seems to be a bigger deal

It will be a difficult operation.

Do you have pressure drops? I also searched my system forever. In the end, the valve insert in the filling connection was leaking. The workshop's filling system couldn't find that because the valve is forced to be kept open when the hose connection is filled. The valve insert is available individually at low prices in the accessories market. It looks similar to tire valves.

I had pressure drops. Was due to an O-ring seal that is no longer available. Now there is a standard O-ring in it. Cool air only comes after many kilometers. The first half hour is nothing. But it is not possible to locate whether the cool air only looks cooler due to the wind. Thanks for the tip with the valve. I have to check that

The heating and the air conditioning influence each other.

In the beginning, the heating and air conditioning system had spun when the outside temperature sensor was over. An incorrect outside temperature was reported and the air conditioning and heating only worked to a limited extent. You can recognize this from the incorrectly displayed outside temperature in the display. The sensor cost about 20 euros.

Then after years came the thing with the filling valve. The valve insert was 8 euros with postage.

And again 2 years later the duo heating valve had to be replaced. The rubber sealing cones in the heating valve were crumbly and hardened. The duo valve was 50 euros.
