I never like to do the car wash at the dealer and definitely learned my lesson this time. When they gave me the car back, I saw the lower mirror cover missing. I flagged the service advisor, and he's like maybe it was lost during the car wash. 10 minutes later, he comes back with the lower mirror cover and reinstalls it. They agree to replace the cover since it's chipped, so that's good.

My concern is with the mirror itself. When the cover came off during the car wash, the mirror's interior was exposed and obviously water crept into the electrical wiring and other interior content. Will this affect the mirror functionality in the long run? Is it okay that water went inside when the cover was missing?

Yeah water gets inside mirrors pretty regularly. They are far from water tight. It usually cannot get into the body of the car from the mirror.
