2017 VW Passat SE, 4 cylinder, 1.8 Turbo , 50,000 miles.  100 miles after new wiring harness installed by dealer (rats chewed it up) one of the sensors that controls R rear wheel speed/function (bunch of warning lights would not go off, tire pressure warning would not reset) needed replacing. Per diagnostic scan. 40 miles later the car started going dead while idling at red lights many times and 1 time while I was driving down the highway (but didn’t lose power steering,etc.).  I can’t help- but feel that this was somehow caused by the recent work done on the car. Any suggestions on what I should do next.
PS. The dealer denied that they could have damaged the sensor while replacing the wiring harness.

It's understandable that you're concerned about the recent issues with your car, especially since they seem to have started after the wiring harness replacement. While it's difficult to definitively say whether the recent work caused the new issues without further inspection, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Check for Loose Connections:
Start by inspecting the areas where the wiring harness was replaced. Ensure that all connections are secure and properly seated. Sometimes, during repair work, connections might not be tightened adequately, leading to intermittent electrical issues.

Scan for Fault Codes:
Since the car started experiencing problems after the sensor replacement, it's essential to scan for any new fault codes. These codes can provide valuable information about what systems are affected and help narrow down the issue. If you have access to an OBD-II scanner, you can perform this yourself, or you can take it to a mechanic for a diagnostic scan.

Inspect Sensor and Wiring:
Even if the dealer denied causing damage to the sensor during the wiring harness replacement, it's still worth inspecting the sensor and its wiring harness for any signs of damage or improper installation. Sometimes, issues can arise from components being disturbed during repair work.

Seek a Second Opinion:
If you're not satisfied with the response from the dealer or if the issue persists, consider seeking a second opinion from an independent mechanic or another authorized service center. They may be able to provide a fresh perspective and identify any overlooked problems.

If you're unable to resolve the issue satisfactorily with the dealer, consider reaching out to Volkswagen's customer service department. They may be able to offer assistance or guidance on how to proceed.
