If your key fob is corroded and detached from the key, it should not prevent your car from starting if you have a standard ignition key. The key fob typically only controls the locking and unlocking functions of the car and possibly the alarm system, but it does not directly affect the ignition system.

However, if there is corrosion on the key itself or within the ignition cylinder, this could potentially cause issues with starting the car. Corrosion in the ignition system can prevent proper contact between the key and the ignition cylinder, leading to difficulties in starting the car.

In your case, since the headlights are coming on but the dash lights are not, it's possible that there could be an issue with the ignition switch, a blown fuse, or a problem with the electrical system.
