I have a 1302 Bj72, I have had the gasoline odor problem while driving. Vented hoses and also removed and cleaned the vent manifold. Everything was great, no more smell!

Well, for two days now, I've noticed gasoline smell in the garage, even though the beetle hasn't been moved. I pushed the beetle out and what do I have to see, gasoline leaked under the engine. When pushing further out, I see dripping gasoline from the left light bulb?, now my real question, how does petrol get into a bulb ??? It jumps on and drives as usual. Can it be that the petrol pump does not hold tight and thus petrol runs into the engine?

The workshop still said that he is running a bit too lean. I think gasoline and heater don't go well together !!

I have no exhaust gas or petrol smell in the vehicle when heating.

I would be happy if someone here had some information for me on what to do.

Check the fuel pump. Is it wet or stinks of gasoline?

Does the oil stink strongly of gasoline and is it very thin?

What do your lines look like?

Did you put hose clamps everywhere?

I would not continue driving until the cause of the gasoline leak is found and corrected.

The petrol pump can certainly leak petrol if the membrane leaks (crack). That was probably the case with my first pump.
