How do i check the cv axle on a 2006 chevy malibu with a 3.5 engine and auto transmission. Note: cv axle rubber boot is not torn

Yes, CV axle can go bad with the boot still intact. If the CV is going bad in your vehicle, you should hear clicking noise when turning. To test this, turn your steering all the way to one side and drive slowly in full turns. Do this both ways, left and right. If they are starting to go bad, you will hear clicking noise. If they have gone really bad, you may also feel the vibration feedback on the steering wheel.
