Suzuki shuts down all plants for three days in Japan, and for three weeks in India due to coronavirus

Suzuki will suspend production in all five plants in Japan from April 1, as it is expected that the spread of the coronavirus will affect the delivery of parts procured from overseas such as China. It was announced that plants will remain suspended for three days.

Operations will be suspended at the Kosai Plant, Iwata Plant, Sagara Plant, Osuka Plant, Hamamatsu Plant and subsidiary plants. The company is scheduled to resume operations from the 6th since the 4th and 5th are closed days. The company will decide about further suspension after checking the status of parts delivery.

Suzuki has also shut down its plants in India. The Indian government has issued a 21-day curfew on the whole country from March 25 to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, and all plants in India will stop operating until April 14. This is likely to have a significant impact on global production outlook.
