This tutorial will show you how to get rid of that annoying change engine oil light that appears on your dash from time to time. This is for 2005 Chevrolet Monte Carlo, but it should be similar to other GM cars.
If you get that light and you change your oil, you’re supposed to reset that light and then that light comes back on after three, four, five thousand miles or whatever it is that manufacturers recommended interval for engine oil changes.
- To reset oil light, put the key in and turn it all the way to the right in the accessory position.
- Pump the gas pedal three times and then turn the key back to off position.
- Now, start the car: change oil light should no longer be there.
Note: There might be slight variations in this, sometimes you might have to step on the gas pedal the first two time quickly, the last time you step on it and you hold it for a couple of seconds. There might be other slight variations of this, but always try this first.
