I have a 1995 2.5L 4-cylinder AUTOMATIC Jeep Wrangler

When driving the jeep shifts into its first gear at an RPM over 2000. Between 2&3 RPM I am being told that the jeep is shifting gears at a too high of an RPM and that it should shift into its first gear under 2000RPM

Is my jeep's transmission bad?

Best way to tell is drop the transmission pan and see if the fluid has any particles in it. ONLY do this if you can maintain a 100% clean environment because if you introduce anything you’ll definitely have a bad transmission.

Would checking the dip stick show any debri? Luckily my dips stick is only oil.

Your transmission should shift at different rpms relative to your throttle position.

Go to your local library and see if they have a repair database, such as Alldata, Chilton or Mitchell1. Pull the technical data.

Is your CHECK ENGINE light on? If so, checking it on that generation of Chrysler engine management is easy, as it involves cycling the key between LOCK and RUN several times. See if you can find any transmission codes.

My guess is yours has an Aisin-Warner AW4 transmission, which is fairly robust.

Hello. No check engine light is on.

The jeep reving at a high rpm to change gear wasnt concerning me. Since the jeep is not overheating or jerking into gear.

Simply someone who drove my jeep said the jeep should shift gears at a lower rpm.

The transmission is a 3 speed btw.
