Is there actually a noticeable difference in the driving experience between petrol and diesel cars? I want to buy a VW GTI or GTD and don't know whether to use petrol or diesel.

Have the GTD as a driving school car, you can't go wrong with it, it's easy to drive, especially due to the high idle gas, you can't stall it at all;). But also has 50hp less than the GTI.

It certainly depends on the car, but starting up and shifting gears with diesel is much more "fluid" and more pleasant. In addition, a diesel vehicle also pulls a little more.
