Volkswagen R now has a brand ambassador: world-class athlete Sara Sigmundsdottir represents the sporty brand of Volkswagen worldwide. The Icelandic CrossFit star embodies values such as performance and all-round skills in a very authentic way.
Sara Sigmundsdottir is one of the most successful CrossFit athletes in the world. The CrossFit Open, the second most important competition of this sport, won it in 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020. There were also victories at renowned regional competitions in Europe and Dubai. At the CrossFit Games, which are considered World Championships in CrossFit, she won the bronze medal in 2015 and 2016. CrossFit is a sport in which exercises from different disciplines are performed in competition. For example, gymnastics, power lifting, Olympic weight lifting, endurance running and rowing.

Sigmundsdottir’s enthusiasm for this sport finally seized her competitive debut in 2013. But the Icelander had already started intensive strength and athletic training before. In addition to training and participating in competitions, the 28-year-old studies psychology. The degree not only secures Sigmundsdottir professionally for the time after her sports career, it is also an excellent balance to the demanding training sessions and competitions. She lives in her Icelandic hometown Njardvik. There she prepares for championships all over the world in her own training area.
