The sensor is faulty and the red light chimes and blinks. I just want to turn it off permanently.

Tampering with safety features in a vehicle, especially critical ones like oil warning lights, is strongly discouraged. Disconnecting the oil warning light is not only unsafe but also illegal in many places.

Instead of disconnecting the warning light, I strongly recommend addressing the underlying issue causing the warning light to come on. In your case, if the oil sensor is faulty, it's essential to have it repaired or replaced.
