If the traction control light in your Nissan Patrol comes on and then goes off after you restart the engine, it could be due to a variety of reasons. Here are some potential causes and steps you can take to address the issue:

Intermittent Sensor Issue:
Sometimes, even after replacing a sensor, there could be a loose connection or a faulty new sensor. Ensure that the sensors (Crankshaft and Camshaft) have been installed correctly and securely. Make sure the wiring connections are not loose.

Wheel Speed Sensors:
Traction control systems rely on data from wheel speed sensors to function properly. If there is an issue with one of these sensors, it can trigger the traction control light. Check if any of the wheel speed sensors are damaged or disconnected.

ABS System:
The ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and the traction control system are often interconnected. A problem with the ABS can sometimes trigger the traction control light. Ensure that your ABS system is functioning correctly.

Faulty Traction Control Module:
The traction control system has a control module that can malfunction. If all other components check out, it may be a problem with this module. A diagnostic scan tool can help identify if the module is causing issues.

Loose or Damaged Wiring:
Check the wiring harnesses and connections related to the traction control system. Loose, corroded, or damaged wires can lead to intermittent issues.

Wheel Bearings and Hubs:
Issues with wheel bearings or hubs can cause wheel speed sensors to malfunction, which in turn can trigger the traction control system. Make sure your wheels and hubs are in good condition.

If the issue persists, consider having the vehicle re-scanned with an OBD-II diagnostic tool, even if the light goes off. It's possible that there are stored trouble codes that can provide more information about the issue, even if the light is not currently illuminated.
