Traffic Sign Assist settings in Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Jeep Grand Cherokee is equipped with a Traffic Sign Assist (TSA) system that helps drivers stay informed about relevant road signs such as speed limits, school zones, and no passing zones. The system utilizes a camera mounted on the windshield and, when equipped with navigation, it also utilizes map data to detect recognizable road signs. If you own a Jeep Grand Cherokee and want to adjust the Traffic Sign Assist settings, here’s how you can do it.

What is Traffic Sign Assist?

Traffic Sign Assist (TSA) is a feature available in the Jeep Grand Cherokee that helps drivers stay aware of and respond to relevant road signs. The system utilizes a camera mounted on the windshield to detect recognizable road signs such as speed limits, school zones, and no passing zones. When equipped with navigation, it also utilizes map data to enhance its accuracy and provide additional information.

The Traffic Sign Assist system is designed to assist the driver by automatically displaying the detected road signs using the unit of measurement (mph or km/h) selected within the instrument cluster display. This allows drivers to easily see and be reminded of the current speed limit and other important traffic signs.

In cases where no speed limit signs are detected, the system will revert to the speed limit signs that are stored in the Navigation system. This ensures that drivers receive accurate information even in areas where physical speed limit signs may not be present.

The system checks the traffic signs indicating the current speed limit and is capable of recognizing and displaying up to two different road signs in the instrument cluster display.

To enhance the functionality of the Traffic Sign Assist system, there are different adjustable settings available. These settings allow drivers to customize the system according to their preferences. For example, drivers can choose the type of warning they want to receive related to traffic signs, such as visual alerts or visual alerts accompanied by audible chimes. They can also adjust the sensitivity of the system and set offsets for improved accuracy.

It’s important to note that while Traffic Sign Assist is a helpful tool, it is designed to assist the driver and not to substitute for the driver’s responsibility to monitor the vehicle’s speed and adhere to traffic regulations. Drivers should always pay attention to road signs and exercise caution while driving.

Accessing Traffic Sign Assist Settings Menu

The first step is to access the center screen of your Jeep Grand Cherokee. This screen is located in the middle of the dashboard and displays various vehicle settings and information. On the bottom category bar of the center screen, locate and tap the “Vehicle” option. This will bring up a menu with different vehicle settings.

In the Vehicle settings menu, look for the “Settings” option, usually located in the top right corner of the screen. Tap on it to enter the settings submenu. From the left menu within the submenu, find and select “Safety & Driving Assistance.”

It’s important to note that while the Traffic Sign Assist system is designed to assist the driver, it does not substitute for the driver’s responsibility to monitor the vehicle’s speed. Additionally, the system may have limited operation or may not work in certain weather conditions such as heavy rain, hail, and thick fog. It’s crucial to keep the sensor area clean and free from obstructions for optimal performance.

With these instructions, you can easily adjust the Traffic Sign Assist settings in your Jeep Grand Cherokee to enhance your driving experience and stay informed about important road signs.
