According to a press statement made by Toyota Japan on May 15: “In response to sluggish global demand for new vehicles due to the impact of the new coronavirus infection, we will continue to adjust production operations at all domestic finished vehicle plants in June as follows.”

Volkswagen also had to stop production again due to less demand. Volkswagen resumed production in late April in Germany after weeks of shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic. In its factory at the historic headquarters in Wolfsburg, two assembly lines will however be completely closed again, and a third will see its hours reduced, for four days this May, because demand does not follow production.
