Acura is the high-end brand of the Japanese firm Honda created in 1986 and used in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Hong Kong, China since 2006, Russia since 2014 and Kuwait since 2015. These products aim the mid and high-end automotive sectors. Honda’s plan to introduce the brand to its Japanese domestic market in 2008 was finally suspended, for economic reasons, primarily from the global financial crisis of 2007-2008.
Acura is considered to be the leading brand of Japanese luxury cars outside the Japanese market; Previously Japanese cars were mostly seen as economical and reliable. In the North American market, it competes with local luxury brands Cadillac and Lincoln, as well as German Audi, BMW and Mercedes, as well as Japanese Lexus and Infiniti.
