Audi tests 5G in production – first 5G robot prototype for the Smart Factory

In telecommunications, 5G is the fifth generation of standards for mobile telephony, it extends LTE technology. It succeeds the fourth generation, called 4G.
5G technology is a new generation because it gives access to data rates exceeding twice the magnitude of 4G with very short latency times, high reliability; it will also increase the number of simultaneous connections per covered area. Ultimately, it targets up to a million devices per square kilometer, ten times more than 4G. Once deployed, it could make it possible to benefit from mobile telecommunication speeds of several gigabits of data per second, i.e. up to 1,000 times more speed than the mobile networks used in 2010 and up to 100 times faster than initial 4G.
