One year after presenting its 100% electric EQC SUV, Mercedes Benz will go to the sedan side with the EQS.

Mercedes is expected to reveal more in the coming weeks or months. For the moment, the car remains quite mysterious. However, it was spotted during a test at a charging station in the municipality of Gruibingen, near the city of Stuttgart, the manufacturer’s stronghold. This short video taken by the German Youtuber Schräg shows the vehicle in action, still with its camouflage.

The Mercedes EQS is long overdue. It is indeed derived from the Concept Vision EQS, futuristic concept car presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2019. This new vehicle obviously does not embed all the technologies of the model car, but should still benefit from its technical advances.

Thus, it could be that like the Concept Vision, the EQS has a 100 kWh battery which would allow it to reach a range of 700 kilometers. It could also carry a fast recharge of 350 kW. Mercedes also speaks of a maximum speed of 200 kilometers per hour as well as an acceleration from 0 to 100 in 4.5 seconds.

With this sedan, Mercedes should compete with Tesla vehicles in this segment. But the EQS would also interfere in a market already occupied by other German manufacturers such as Audi and its e-Tron or even Porsche and its Taycan. French brands are not outdone on luxury battery vehicles, since Peugeot is currently working on a 1008 100% electric.
