Your truck may be equipped with power-deployable running boards that offer both style and convenience when getting into and out of the cab.

Convenient available power-deployable running boards can be set to automatically extend and retract.

  1. To activate them, using the five-way switch on your steering wheel, go to the Settings tab on your 8-inch productivity screen.
  2. Scroll to Advanced Settings > Vehicle > Power Running Boards.
  3. And select either Auto, which extends or retracts every time you open or close the doors.
  4. Select Out, to keep them open all the time, which can be helpful when accessing items from a roof rack.
  5. Or Off, to disable them, which is useful if you’re using a hoist or jack.

There are a few things that you may need to know to prevent damaging them. Before you put a jack underneath your vehicle, you’ll need to ensure that the power running boards are turned off. Also, when using a jack, be sure to check your owner’s manual for proper mounting locations. And when using a hoist lift be sure to place the lift arms under the frame rails at all times to avoid damage to the under body and running board components.
