How BMW High Beam Assist works

The high beam assistant switches the high beams on and off depending on the lighting conditions and the traffic situation. A sensor near the inside rearview mirror monitors an area in front of your vehicle for this purpose.

When the High Beam Assist detects the headlights of oncoming traffic, the high beams are switched off. In addition, the high beam assistant also detects the taillights of vehicles driving ahead and automatically adapts the high beam lights so that they do not create a glare for other drivers.

How to enable High Beam Assist on BMW

In order for High Beam Assist to work the light switch must be in auto mode. To activate the High Beam Assist, press the lower button on the end of the left stalk.

The green indicator lamp in the instrument cluster lights up when the system is activated. The blue indicator lamp lights up when the system switches on the high beams.
