The Ambient Air package on BMW 7-Series includes eight distinct scents that can further enhance the driving pleasure. This guide shows you how to replace its scent cartridge.
These scents are available in small cartridges that can be installed in the fragrance system located in the glovebox.
Removing cartridge
To remove a cartridge in order to change scent or replenish an empty cartridge, press on the bottom of the cartridge holder in the glovebox. The cartridge holder slides down containing two cartridges.
To remove a cartridge from the holder, use two fingers to gently grasp a cartridge and then pull it down. Empty fragrance cartridges can be taken to a BMW retail center for recycling.

Installing new cartridge
Before installing a new cartridge, slide back its cover to expose the fragrance compartment. You can store the cover on the back side. Next position the cartridge in the holder so that the chip faces away from the holder and the exposed fragrance faces inward. You should not apply too much pressure, the cartridge has a magnetic connection and engages easily.
Push the cartridge holder back into place. Before closing the glove compartment, make sure that no objects press against the cartridge holder from below to prevent damage to the system. After installing new cartridge and closing the holder, the fragrance menu will reappear in the instrument cluster.
