Your Toyota Avalon may be equipped with a feature that lets you start your vehicle remotely using your key fob.
Note: This method is for Avalon third generation XX30 built between 2004 to 2012, but it may work for newer models as well.
- To start your Avalon’s engine using the remote engine starter, press and release the lock button twice within 2 seconds.
- Each time you press the lock button the hazard lights will flash once and you will hear a beep.
- Next press and hold the lock button for 3 seconds. The hazard lights will flash once and you will hear a beep.
- Then after 3 seconds the lights will flash again once the engine will start and the hazard lights will flash for 20 seconds.
The car shuts off when you open the door or hit the unlock button. How are you supposed to get in after it’s started?
That’s what happens in most Toyota vehicles. You must start the engine again from inside the vehicle in order to drive. No way around it.
