How to program garage door opener on Toyota Highlander

Some Toyota models are available with a HomeLink Universal Transceiver. The buttons are located either in the overhead center console or on the lower edge of the rear view mirror.

The in vehicle system can be programmed to operate any HomeLink compatible device, such as garage door openers, estate gates, or security lighting.

Up to three devices can be operated from the vehicle:

  1. To program any of the three HomeLink remote control buttons, the vehicle must be on.
  2. Then simply hold the handheld remote control close to the HomeLink panel and simultaneously depress both the remote and desired HomeLink buttons until the indicator light flashes rapidly.
  3. If your opener uses rolling code technology, press and release the learn or smart button on the garage door motor. Once the button is pressed, you have 30 seconds in which to initiate the next step.
  4. Return to the vehicle and firmly press and hold the desired HomeLink button for two seconds and release.
  5. Repeat the press, hold, release sequence up to three times to complete the learning process.
  6. HomeLink should now activate your device.
