How to operate manual climate control on Toyota Camry 2006-2013

The manual climate control system on the Camry includes three knobs and three buttons. The first knob controls the fan speed and the button at the bottom determines whether the system air is drawn from the outside or from the inside of the vehicle and recirculated.

The second knob controls the temperature of the air coming out of the system. The button in the center of this knob turns the air conditioning system on and off. When it’s off, the system blows ambient temperature air when the knob is set to the coldest position. The air conditioning system may not come on when the outside temperature falls below freezing.

The third knob directs the system air to the passenger’s upper body, their feet, and the windshield, or various combinations of those three. If set all the way to the right to defrost the windshield, the system overrides the recirculate button and automatically draws air from the outside.

Pressing the button at the bottom of this third knob turns the rear window and mirror defrosters on for 15 to 60 minutes, depending on outside temperature.
