Your Toyota is equipped with a steering lock feature. On vehicles with a hard key, the steering wheel will lock when the key is turned to the locked position.
The key can be removed only when the vehicle is in park.
- To release the steering wheel, when starting the engine, turn the key while slightly turning the steering wheel left or right.
- On vehicles with the smart key system, the steering wheel will lock after turning off the engine and opening the driver’s door.
- When you enter the vehicle and press the engine start/stop button, the steering wheel will release.
- If the steering wheel doesn’t release, a message in the multi-information display will notify you.
- Be sure the vehicle is in park and press the engine start/stop button while slightly turning the steering wheel left or right.
