Silicone spray
If the seat belt in old cars no longer runs properly, it is often due to a lack of lubrication. Therefore, you should pull out your seat belt completely and spray the last part with silicone spray. Note: There will be no stains on your clothing, but you can easily wipe the belt with a damp cloth for safety.

Pull the belt vigorously
The belt is rolled up again using a mechanical spring balancer, but from time to time the spring balancer tightens or blocks. Then one half of the belt is loose and the other is tensioned. In this case, you should pull the belt as vigorously and quickly as possible, this releases the tension and the belt no longer sticks.
If you were not able to solve the problem using the tips mentioned above, there will be a misalignment or wear of the lock washer. This ensures that the belt can be easily rolled up and unwound. Since the misalignment cannot be corrected without complete removal, you can only pull out your belt very carefully and let it roll up. This provides the function, but this should not serve as a permanent solution.

Since these are safety-relevant components, you should always have the repairs carried out in a specialist workshop.
