The third generation of Hyundai Tucson comes standard with electronic parking brake (EPB). This guide shows you how to operate it.
Engaging EPB
To engage the electronic parking brake, put the car in Park, press the brake pedal, and then pull up on the electronic parking brake switch.
Manual release
To release the electronic parking brake, press the brake pedal and push the electronic parking brake switch down.
Automatic release
Automatically release the electronic parking brake by having the engine on, doors closed, and seat belt fastened. Then shift from Park to Reverse or Park to Drive and press the accelerator pedal. You’ll hear the electronic parking brake disengage before you drive away.
Emergency braking with EPB
If the switch for the electronic parking brake is operated while driving, the control unit recognizes this as an emergency braking and brakes the vehicle at intervals . This prevents the rear axle from locking and thus preventing the vehicle from swerving, which happens very often with manual parking brake.
