Child locks in the BMW X3 are locking devices that prevent the rear doors from being opened from the inside.
The child safety device consists of a small switch on the edge of the door that cannot be operated when the door is closed. If the switch is activated, the door can only be opened from the outside.
Flip the switch on rear passenger door up to engage the lock, so that the door can only be opened from outside. Push is back down to disengage the lock, so that the door can be opened from both outside and inside of the vehicle.
