How to deactivate front passenger airbag in Toyota Fortuner

The Toyota Fortuner is a popular mid-size SUV that comes equipped with a range of safety features, including airbags for both the driver and front passenger. However, there may be situations where you need to deactivate the front passenger airbag, such as when traveling with a child. In this article, we’ll explore the steps you need to follow to safely deactivate the front passenger airbag in your Toyota Fortuner.

If you own a Toyota Fortuner and need to deactivate the front passenger airbag for any reason, you’ll be pleased to know that the airbag manual on-off switch is conveniently located on the passenger side dashboard. This switch allows you to turn off the airbag manually, which can be useful if you’re traveling with a child who may be at risk of injury from the airbag deploying in the event of an accident.

To use the airbag manual on-off switch, simply follow these steps:

  1. Locate the switch: The airbag manual on-off switch is located on the side of the dashboard on the passenger side of the vehicle. It is easily identifiable by the “AIRBAG PASSENGER” label.
  2. Remove the metal key from the key fob (vehicles with keyless smart entry).
  3. Insert the key in the switch and turn the key to the “OFF” position.
  4. Once you’ve turned the switch to the off position, check the indicator light on the dashboard to make sure the airbag is turned off.

It’s important to note that you should only use the airbag manual on-off switch when absolutely necessary, and always follow the manufacturer’s instructions. Additionally, remember to reactivate the airbag as soon as possible after it has been deactivated, and never allow a child to sit in the front seat of the vehicle unless absolutely necessary. By taking these precautions, you can help ensure the safety of your passengers in the event of an accident.
