How to connect Bluetooth on 2011 Toyota Prius

The compatible Bluetooth cellular phone connects to the vehicle wirelessly through the vehicle’s built-in Bluetooth device.

There’s no need to connect any interface cables between your phone and the vehicle. This guide will help you to pair a phone using the available navigation system.

  1. To start pairing your compatible Bluetooth cellphone, press the info-phone button on the right-hand side of the audio system.
  2. Then press phone.
  3. If no other phones are currently paired with the system, a screen will appear indicating that no phone is connected and asks if you’d like to connect a phone. Press yes and the system will automatically begin a Bluetooth connection.
  4. The system will search for your phone. Make sure your phone’s Bluetooth feature is active.
  5. When prompted, enter the code that is shown on your navigation screen into your phone.
  6. When paired, the banner will say Bluetooth connection successful.

Add another phone

  1. If a phone has already been paired with the system and you’d like to add another compatible phone, press the info-phone button to display the information screen.
  2. Then press phone.
  3. Now press the connect phone button.
  4. Now select add new.
  5. The system will search for your phone.
  6. Make sure your phone’s Bluetooth feature is active.
  7. When prompted, enter the code that is shown on your navigation screen into your phone.
  8. After a successful connection, you’ll see Bluetooth connection successful on the navigation system screen and you’re now ready to use your cellphone with the hands-free system.

Up to four phones can be paired to the system. However, only one phone at a time may use the hands-free calling feature.

Transferring contacts

On Prius models equipped with the available navigation system, you can also transfer your phone contacts to the system. It can accommodate up to a thousand contacts.

  1. To accomplish this, press the contacts button.
  2. Confirm by pressing yes.
  3. A data transfer screen will be displayed with icons indicating the transfer. This may take a few minutes depending on the number of contacts in your phone book and the screen will not change while the contacts are being transferred.
  4. Once the contacts have been transferred, the contacts screen will be displayed.
  5. Press back to return to the phone screen.

Speed Dials

You can select the speed dials button to save up to 18 speed dial numbers.

  1. To set one, press any add new button.
  2. Confirm by pressing yes and then choose a name from your address book.
  3. Select the speed dial number you wish to use and save it to speed dial.

Other Tips

Another benefit. Once your address book has been downloaded to the Prius, when you dial by name, the system will automatically recognize all the names in the address book. If you’re stopped, you can press info-phone, then phone and dial a number manually. To use the hands-free feature, press the voice command button on the steering vehicle. Please say a command such as go home, destination, phone, audio, or command list. And when prompted say phone and a list of dialing methods will become available.

This does not make sense because the 2011 Prius doesn’t have any info button on the right hand side of the audio system.
This is probably referring to another model year, but definitely not the 2011 Prius.

My 2011 Prius does have Info-Phone button. I think this button is only on models with LCD multimedia screen. Here is the picture.

The connected for audio doesn’t work.

When connecting, it says phone and audio for several seconds then just phone.

The toggle for audio doesn’t stay flipped on the phone (Samsung Galaxy S9).

On the lcd it says Portable Player Not Connected with a small “BT” with a red slash line through it on the right, above “Connect”.
