If equipped and enabled in settings the side mirrors on your BMW X3 will fold in automatically when the vehicle is locked. This helps protect the mirrors from damage.
You can enable this feature in system settings using your iDrive controller, or touch display if equipped.
- To enable auto folding mirrors on X3, go to My Vehicle on your vehicle’s infotainment system display.
- Then select Vehicle settings.
- Then choose Doors/Key.
- Scroll down and check the box next to Fold mirrors in when locked.
The exterior mirrors should now automatically fold in when you lock the vehicle and fold out when you unlock.
If you can’t find such an option in settings, you can try using voice command: press the talk button on the steering wheel and say “doors and key”. The system will open the Doors/Key menu, scroll down and enable auto folding option. If you still can’t find it, then your vehicle may not be equipped with this feature.
