How to activate or deactivate child lock in Toyota Fortuner

Child lock is an important safety feature in Toyota Fortuner that allows parents to lock the rear doors so that children cannot accidentally open them while the car is in motion. It is a useful safety feature for families with young children. In this article, we will explain how to activate or deactivate the rear door child lock in Fortuner.

Note: Child locks are only available on the rear doors of Toyota Fortuner. Front driver and passenger doors don’t have child locks.

Activating the child lock in your Toyota Fortuner is a simple process that involves locating the switch and moving it to the appropriate position. Here are the steps to follow:

  1. Locate the child lock switch: The child lock switch is located on the inner edge of the rear door, near the latch.
  2. To access the switch, open the rear door of your Fortuner.
  3. The child lock switch has two positions, one for activation and the other for deactivation. To activate the child lock, flip the switch to the locked position. The switch is marked with a padlock icon.
  4. After activating the child lock, close the rear door and try to open it from the inside. The door should be locked and cannot be opened.
  5. Repeat the above process for the other rear door.

Once you have activated the child lock, the rear doors can only be opened from the outside. This safety feature is particularly important for families with young children who may accidentally open the door while the car is in motion.

Remember that child locks should only be activated when children are in the vehicle. You should always ensure that the child lock is deactivated when there are no children in the back seats, as it could prevent adults from exiting in case of an emergency.

It is also worth noting that child locks are not a substitute for proper supervision and car safety measures such as car seats and seat belts. Parents and guardians should always ensure that their children are securely buckled in and follow all necessary safety precautions while traveling in a vehicle.
