GM recalls 20,000 Silverado and Sierra 1500 pickup trucks over faulty braking system

General Motors (GM) is recalling its 1500 series vans, the Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra, to correct a fault in the braking system. The affected models are from the year 2020.

Some Silverado and Sierra models have been manufactured with non-heat treated brake caliper bolts. Without heat treatment, the bolts are weaker than they should be and there is a risk of failure. If it does, it will affect braking performance, which could result in a collision.

A total of 20,352 vehicles are affected. The owners of the affected trucks will be contacted by GM. Dealers will inspect the bolts and replace those that are defective.
