Ford Mustang Mach-E: 10 impressive features

Ford’s first all electric vehicle is an SUV under Mustang badge, named Mach-E. The crossover-style EV can already be configured and reserved online on Ford’s website. Here we learn 10 cool facts or features about this vehicle.

The new Mustang Mach-E is a 4.71 meter long, 1.88 meter wide and 1.60 meter high electric car in a crossover style. It will be launched later this year and will be offered with two battery options, with rear or all-wheel drive (dual electric motor) and in various performance levels. Price starts from $43,895 in US and 46,900 euros in Germany.


The battery pack is located under the floor to save space. According to WLTP (combined), the power consumption of the new Mustang Mach-E is between 18.1 and 16.5 kWh / 100 km. This means – in relation to the optional “Extended Range” battery with 99 kWh and 376 cells – a WLTP range of up to 600 kilometers before the vehicle has to be recharged. The standard battery has a storage capacity of 75 kWh and still offers a range according to WLTP of up to 450 kilometers. The GT version of the Mustang Mach-E – available from 2021 – accelerates from zero to 100 in under five seconds. The consumption and CO2 emission values ​​are expected to be announced before market launch.

1. Short charging time
Owners of a Ford Mustang Mach-E can drive up to 93 additional kilometers at an IONITY charging station after only ten minutes of charging (with “Extended Range” batteries via high-performance DC charging stations with 150 kW).

2. Configure & reserve online
The Mustang Mach-E can already be configured and reserved online on Ford’s website.

3. Smartphone as key
Keys are a relic from yesterday. The Mustang Mach-E recognizes the owner’s smartphone when he/she approaches the vehicle. The Mustang Mach-E then unlocks the doors and lets the car start. You don’t even have to take your smartphone out of your pocket. However, conventional vehicle keys will of course also be available on request.

4. Ford Team Edison
The Mustang Mach-E is the first project of the Ford Team Edison. Ford Team Edison is a new “company within the company” that develops electric vehicles. The name was inspired by the light bulb inventor Thomas Edison, who was a good friend of Henry Ford.


5. Online updates
The Mustang Mach-E is updated via online updates (just like Tesla). This makes the car future-proof. In the future, software updates will be delivered routinely, for example for the voice activation system or for driver assistance systems.

6. Award winning interior design
An optional B&O premium sound system with ten speakers is available for the Mustang Mach-E, one of which has been seamlessly and elegantly integrated into the instrument panel in the form of a sound bar. This design has already received the iF Design Award.

7. High-tech glass
The panoramic glass roof has infrared protection to keep the interior cooler in summer and warmer in winter. A special layer in the glass also protects against ultraviolet radiation.

8. Cloud based voice commands
You can communicate with the Mustang Mach-E. Thanks to the cloud-based technology, the voice activation system even understands voice commands such as “Find the best Thai restaurant”.

9. Interior lighting according to mood
The Mustang Mach-E can be adjusted to the mood. The vehicle offers three driving modes that can be selected via the touchscreen. Depending on the driving mode, the driving behavior, the displays or the ambient lighting vary.

10. Cool name
Ford Mustang Mach-E – a name like a legacy. The name “Mach” has been used specifically for high-performance Mustang models since the 1960s, for example the Ford Mustang Mach 1, a car that gave the impression that it could break through the sound barrier.
