DS Automobiles expands its range of electric cars

The French brand launches the DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE 225 in Europe, which joins the E-TENSE 4×4.

Slowly, the DS Automobiles family of electrified cars continues to grow, in line with its electrification strategy, which seeks to have only such cars by 2025. Along with the DS 3 CROSSBACK E-TENSE (100% electric) and DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 4×4 (plug-in hybrid), the brand now adds a new model: the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 225.

The differences between the two DS 7 Crossback hybrids are mechanical. While the E-TENSE 4×4 has two electric motors attached to a gas station to offer 300 Hp of power and four-wheel drive, this new model only has an electric motor and drives only the front axle.

The DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 225 has a 180 horsepower, 300 Nm of torque gasoline engine, backed by a 110 Hp, 320 Nm electric motor mounted directly on the eight-speed automatic gearbox.

At start, only the electric motor is used, which allows a zero emission mode up to 135 km / h, depending on the acceleration force. A as in the hybrid PSA, the driver can choose between a 100% electric mode, a hybrid mode and a sport that uses all available power: 225 horsepower and 360 Nm combined.

The battery is 13.2 kWh and is located under the floor, offering enough charge to cover up to 55 km (WLTP) or up to 72 km (low-speed WLTP) in zero emission mode. The mark indicates a fuel consumption between 62.5 and 71.4 km / liters (WLTP) at low speed.

Like the DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE 4×4, this new model is plug-in and includes two charging cables: a regular one for occasional charging in a household socket and another 7.4W mode for charging in a wallbox (from 0 to 100% in just 1h.45 minutes). In addition, the battery is charged while driving thanks to the regenerative braking system and the energy generated by the combustion engine itself (E-SAVE mode).

This whole process can be controlled through an application on the phone or on the 12-inch screen in the center of the dash.

As standard, the DS 7 CROSSBACK E-TENSE 225 includes variable damping controlled by sensors, accelerometers and cameras (DS ACTIVE SCAN SUSPENSION) that work together to read the surface and driving condition and thus offer firmer or smoother damping. keep going.

Standard is also the DS CONNECTED PILOT assistance system, a kind of level 2 autonomous driving. Package includes a Driver Attention Monitor (DS DRIVER ATTENTION MONITORING), a Adaptive and Matrix LED Light System (the DS ACTIVE LED VISION), a Night Vision Camera (DS NIGHT VISION), and a Parking Assistant (DS PARK PILOT).

The DS 7 Crossback E-TENSE 225 will be available with three trim levels and four aesthetic trim options, beginning sales in Europe in the second half of the year.
