In a video released by the manufacturer, Vincent Cobée, CEO of Citroën, confirms that the successor to the crossover will be presented in June this year, with sales starting in Europe from September or October.
Although the question remains whether they will keep the C4 Cactus designation or will only adopt the name C4 again, the novelty should have a purely electric version. Gasoline and diesel options for markets where fuel is allowed in passenger cars are also in the plans.
Like the new generations of Peugeot 208 and 2008, the successor to the European C4 Cactus was based on the versatile CMP platform, applied in compact models of the French conglomerate and which allows for various propulsion technologies.
The new generation of the C4 Cactus will mark a complete revolution in the design of the model, adopting bolder features and a coupe silhouette. “The model will launch a new style identity. The compact segment is the heart of the European market, but it is a category that does not change much ”, analyzed Cobée. The executive also points out that the successor of the C4 Cactus will have a spacious cabin for family use, as well as a trunk suitable for that purpose.
In Europe, the C4 Cactus was launched in 2014, receiving a facelit in 2017. The medium hatch C4, in turn, continued on sale in the same continent until 2018.
