Charge motorcycle battery: calculate charging time

Charging your motorcycle battery can take several hours. The exact loading time depends on several factors, but can be determined quite easily.

Depending on the capacity of the motorcycle battery and the performance of the charger, the most varied charging times can result. A full charge takes around 12 hours on average.

You can calculate the loading time relatively easily. All you need is the appropriate information on the battery and charger. The battery often has a capacity of 12 Ah, a charger usually delivers 300 mA.

You can calculate the charging time by dividing the capacity of the battery in mAh by the charging current in mA. In our case, we divide 12,000 by 300 and get 40 hours.

Since there is a loss of heat during charging, the result must be multiplied again by 1.2 to 1.5. Depending on the charger, the heat loss is greater or smaller.
