Lower Saxony’s Prime Minister Stephan Weil said: “We live in difficult times, and in such times people are particularly happy about positive news and signs of solidarity. One such sign is the generous donation of medical material by Volkswagen. The materials will benefit people working in healthcare in Lower Saxony, but also throughout Germany. I would like to thank those responsible, but also many employees at Volkswagen, for their great willingness to help in this Corona crisis despite their own concerns. They are very committed and do it for granted. This example shows: We hold together well in Lower Saxony! “

Volkswagen Human Resources Director Gunnar Kilian emphasized: “Doctors and nurses in public health need full support in the fight against Corona. With our donation we want to contribute – in Germany and especially in Lower Saxony. Because Lower Saxony is home to Volkswagen. Our group employs more than 130,000 people here, in addition there are many thousands of employees in around 3,500 suppliers. They all rely on Volkswagen. We help. So that we could keep our word, our teams worked together very professionally. I thank them very much for that.”

Last week, Volkswagen donated around 200,000 respirators from categories FFP-2 and FFP-3 for public health care at short notice. Orders from China are now coming in and are being distributed by public bodies. The aid delivery from China was implemented jointly by the healthcare, procurement, finance and logistics of the group with the aim of being able to supply doctors and hospitals as quickly as possible.
