Bugatti Chiron Pur Sport unveiled as a $3.4 million hypercar

Bugatti unveiled a limited edition model based on the Chiron, called “Chiron Pur Sport”.

The new Chiron offers improved handling and performance compared to the base model. Only 60 vehicles will be produced worldwide with a price tag of around 3 million euros or 3.4 million US dollars.

Chiron Pur Sport was scheduled to be announced at the Geneva Motor Show 2020, but it was canceled due to concerns about the spread of the new coronavirus.

Exterior

Chiron Pur Sport adopts a new design that enhances aerodynamic performance. The front is fitted with a widener grill for improved air intake. The front lip spoiler has a special design that protrudes forward, creating maximum downforce.

A large fixed wing with a length of 74 inch is attached to the rear for improved downforce. A special diffuser is also equipped. The angled wing mount, together with the rear bumper, forms a large X. Lightweight 3D printed titanium exhaust pipes were used. By eliminating the hydraulic components of the retractable rear spoiler of the base vehicle, the weight has been reduced by 10 kg (22 pounds).

Interior

The interior is laced with Alcantara all over. Dynamic patterns are laser printed on Alcantara-covered door trim panels. The steering wheel is also finished in Alcantara for ideal grip. The seats have increased side support. All trim panels and control switches are made of black anodized aluminum or titanium. Cross stitch on each part. At 12 o’clock on the steering wheel, a blue highlight has been added.

Performance

Bugatti has developed a chassis and suspension that is particularly useful on winding roads. A 65% stiffer spring is used at the front and a 33% stiffer spring at the rear without adversely affecting comfort. The control of adaptive damping and the change of camber value (-2.5 degrees) enables more dynamic handling.

The curb weight has been reduced by 19 kg (42 pounds). In addition, by increasing the firmness of the connection between the chassis, suspension and body by 130 percent at the front and 77 percent at the rear, the road grip has further improved.

In addition to the four drive modes, a “Sports+” mode has been introduced. The setting gives more leeway than normal sports mode, as it allows the car to drift further before stability control intervenes.

The 40-75 mph (60-120km/h) intermediate acceleration is 2 seconds quicker than base Chiron. The car is equipped with a dual-stage turbocharged 8.0 liter W16 engine, it is a sixteen cylinder piston engine with four banks of four cylinders in a W configuration.

The maximum output is the same as 1500hp, but the engine rotation speed has been increased by 200rpm from 6700rpm to 6900rpm. Maximum torque is the same at 1,180 lb-ft. The 7-speed dual clutch “DSG” has a 15% closer gear ratio. The drive system is all wheel drive.
