As of today, the Berlin police are in possession of 35 new BMW branded government motorbikes. Helmut Schramm, head of the BMW Group plant in Berlin, handed over the BMW R 1250 RT motorcycles to Police President Barbara Slowik. At the handover on Tempelhofer Feld, not far from the Berlin police headquarters at Platz der Luftbrücke, Berlin’s Senator for the Interior, Andreas Geisel, was also present.
“We are proud to be able to equip the Berlin police with vehicles from our plant in Spandau again,” said plant manager Helmut Schramm. “Quality, reliability and versatility are top priorities for BMW Motorrad. We are very pleased with the trust placed in us to demonstrate these properties in official use.”
Police President Barbara Slowik said on the occasion of the handover: “I am pleased that with the purchase of the motorcycles we have taken a further step in the renewal of our fleet. For me, this procurement is an important investment, an investment in the security of the city and, above all, in the security of my colleagues. ”
Optimal functionality
The 35 BMW R 1250 RT are specially tailored to the needs of the Berlin police and are characterized by various special installations. This includes, for example, special digital radio technology that can be fully operated without changing the hand position on the handlebar. Additional LED headlights and the striking stickers with high-reflective strips help to ensure that the officials on their motorcycles are noticed early on in traffic. In order to address road users directly, the police officers can use the external speakers while driving. The volume of the sound automatically adjusts to the speed you are driving.
The production of the motorcycles and the assembly of the special features for official use is carried out entirely in the BMW Group plant in Berlin in the Spandau district.
Leading manufacturer in the official business
The official business is an important and successful field of activity for BMW Motorrad.
